APPENDIX B
GUIDELINES
AGGREGATE (Where used in the base formation)
Where used within the structure aggregates are most suitable if they conform within the limited indicated below:
Type/name of Material:
Angular Interlocking frost resistant stone
Main range of particles:
3mm to 20mm
Particle shape
Angular
% of particles in required shape:
No less than 90%
UNBOUND MINERAL (interlocking of Waterbound)
Type/name of Material:
hard porous
Main range of particles:
3mm to 20mm
Particle shape
Angular
% of particles in required shape:
No less than 90%
SYNTHETIC TURF
Where used s it advisable they conform within the limits as appropriate for durability and the requirements below:
FIBRES:
UV Stabilised polypropylene and nylon
TURF DENSITY:
No less than 70,00 per sq mtr
PILE: Note: In the pitch of the ball area
No less than 6mm. No more than 10mm pile. Lengths grater than 8mm must flatten rapidly. All pile lengths greater than 6mm must have flattened within a season's use (60games) to be no more than 6mm depth from the backing. The pile must be non directional
TOTAL WEIGHT:
No less than 1300gms per sq. m
GRADIENTS:- (Non Mandatory)
When tested in accordance with the method of test indication in BS 7370 part 3 Appendix 5 using a 2 metre straight edge, a 1 metre spirit level, and a graduated wedge or rule in both longitudinal direction and across the width of the pitch, in four locations as indication on the drawing, the gradient should ideally be:-
Longitudinal:
No more than 1 in 80 No less than 1 in 300
Across the Width
No more than 1 in 50 No Less than 1 in 50
THICKNESS OF MATERIALS (Mandatory)
When tested in accordance with the method of test indicated in BS 7370 part 3 Appendix 7 or the method as submitted by the UK delegation to CEN for unbound mineral surfaces, the thickness must not vary by more than 10% from the average. This is specially important in the playing area.
MARKINGS (Mandatory)
When visually inspected an accordance with the Institute of Groundsmanship Performance Quality Standards all markings shall be in accordance with the rules of the game and clearly visible from a distance on 30 metres.
SURFACE WRINKLES (Mandatory)
When visually Inspected there must be no wrinkles in the surface or base formation components.
PERIMETER FIXING (Mandatory)
When examined the perimeter fixing must hold the surface and base formation components in position and must in no way be above or below the uniform plane established by the levels of evenness indicated for marrying in the surrounds to the perimeter of the pitch surface. Where stiff or hard edgings are used the upper side should not form a trip hazard between the surrounds of the surface of the pitch when the pitch has settled down.
